​Jane E. Shey

Jane E. Shey has worked on agricultural and trade policy for almost 30 years with an emphasis on strategic planning, goal setting, coalition building, and communication efforts. Her client base has included trade associations, Fortune 500 companies, agriculture producer organizations, national agencies, and local and local governments.

Ms. Shey's client work in Washington, D.C. focused on legislative activities include working closely with the House and Senate Agriculture Committees and the Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittees to maintain or create new programs, or to obtain funding for these programs. She has also run for the U.S. House of Representatives, served as a congressional legislative aide, and worked as the staff director of a congressional subcommittee.

She has served on federal government advisory committees such as the U.S. Agency for International Development and the Global Livestock Collaborative Research Support Program (CRSP), which distributed $2.5 million annually to U.S. land-grant universities.  She also represented the National Association of Animal Breeders on the Agriculture Technical Advisory Committee (ATAC) for Animals and Animal Products (U.S. Department of Agriculture).

Ms. Shey was raised on a corn, soybean and cattle farm in Iowa and was active in the day-to-day operations. She graduated cum laude with a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in history and theology from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, and cum laude with a Masters of Arts in European Studies from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). Ms. Shey is currently a PhD candidate at the same university.
